The real mystery of Nostradamus prophecies : Part 1

When the US Twin Towers hit by terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, rumors spread on the Internet that the famous astrologer Nostradamus predicted it four hundred years ago. Of course, these rumors are not new. Whenever there is any Big event happened in the world, it is heard that Nostradamus predict it earlier.

Adolf Hitler’s rise, nuclear bomb attacks in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Apollo’s moon victory campaign, John F. Kennedy’s assassination, death of Princess Diana ( Princess of Wales ), even latest ISIS emergence, Donald Trump’s elected as president. there is no historical event, which is not predicted by Nostradamus.

But is this real? Let’s briefly find out what was in Nostradamus’s predictions and how much these are reliable?

Nostradamus was a French astrologer, physician and reputed future speaker
Reputed Future Speaker Nostradamus

Who is Nostradamus :

The original name of Nostradamus was Michel de Nostredame. He was a French astrologer, physician and reputed future speaker. It is believed that he was born in 1503 and died in 1566. He spent his career as a physician at first, but later he leaned towards the astrology, Evaluation of horoscope and future speaking.

In 1555 he published his most famous book ‘Les Prophéties‘ or ‘The Prophecies‘ where he predict future events with a collection of 942 poetic quatrains.

After his death, these predictions were compiled in ten volumes entitled “the centuries“. Each volume contains 100 predictions.

Nostradamus prediction's features was four-line rhyme with various riddle and paradoxes
Nostradamus Book ‘Les Prophéties’ or ‘The Prophecies’

Nostradamus prediction’s features :

Nostradamus prediction was four-line rhyme with various riddle and paradoxes. Interestingly, most of his predictions did not mention any specific person or any specific date. Rather, in such a case, he used some strange metaphor, which can be hard to find any meaning. And because of this ambiguity, after any incident, it is possible to easily explain the analogies with them and claim that Nostradamus actually meant that. French was the mother tongue of Nostradamus. His poems are mainly written in French. But he also studied Latin and Greek, effect of those languages is remarkable among his poems. He used many metaphor and words in medieval French, Greek and Latin languages. After any significant event, people try to match them with his ambiguous words from his poems.

Nostradamus prophecies about Hitler rise
Nostradamus prediction about the emergence of Hitler

Nostradamus prediction about the emergence of Hitler :

One of the most discussed predictions of Nostradamus is his prediction about Hitler’s rise. From his PROPHECIES 24th poem of Second part :

Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing.

Also,

From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East.

Although there is no way to clearly understand from this poem, what exactly is indicated here, but the Nostradamus fans claim that the word ‘Hister‘ here refers to “Hitler“.

Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers” are meant to attack France with the Rhine river of the German army, by crossing the river. Cage of iron is meant to refer to German tanks, and child of Germany were meant to defeated Hitler at the end of the war.

But interestingly, in this poem, the term ‘Hister‘ is more likely the name of the river rather than the person name.

Because in that era, the name of the river Danube was known as Hister. So the phrase ‘Against Hister‘ can mean the war on the bank of the Danube River. Interestingly Hitler was born on the banks of the river Danube.

On 2nd poem Nostradamus said that A young child will be born in the poor family and his speech will fascinate the crowd. Hitler was born in a poor family of Western Europe, his speech really attracted a large number of people and his reputation spread to Eastern Europe. But there is no specific date or person’s name or unique indicator, so it would be foolish to think of Hitler.

Because Nostradamus predicted in 1555. Since then, there have been thousands of such people in Europe for the last 450 years and for the next hundreds of years, we can found many people who born in the poor house, good speakers and whose fame has already reached Eastern Europe.

Nostradamus predictions about the 9/11 twin tower attack
Nostradamus predictions about the 9/11 twin tower attack

Nostradamus predictions about the 9/11 twin tower attack :

After 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, A rumor was spread through various websites and emails that this attack was also predicted by Nostradamus. The poems that are broadcasted as Nostradamus prediction :

Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
Then Arethusa will redden a new river.

Nostradamus fans claim, here Two great rocks means twin towers, New City means new york city and Arethusa connect to pentagon and 9/11. But according to the data from snopes and Urban Legends Nostradamus did not write the first three lines of this poem by himself. These have been taken from an article written by a student of the University of Brock University, Canada, to prove the lies of Nostradamus.

Neil Marshall ( the student ) used these example to prove that Nostradamus predictions were unclear and enigmatical which can have many explanations at the same time. As This poem ( Neil Marshall’s ) subsequently spread as a 9/11 prediction, criticizer found a more strong argument for their statements.

Another nostradamus poem related to 9/11 :

The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude,
Fire approaches the great new city
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans

while rumors said that Nostradamus mention about “two steel birds” in his poem but in the original poem there was nothing about two steel birds. Also, rumors claim, “forty-five degrees latitude” here Latitude is used to meant temperatures.

Not all the prophecies of Nostradamus that can be rejected like Hitler or 9/11 there are some predictions which match accurately.

Nostradamus prophecies about The death of Henry II
The death of Henry II

Nostradamus prophecies about The death of Henry II :

According to Nostradamus poem :

The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death.

At the time of his death Henry was 40 and Montgomery was six years junior than Henry. Also, both lined up to joust Gabriel. The “single battle” on the poem match to this battle. As the participants attack each other, Montgomery’s joust passed through the Henry’s headgear (the golden cage) and pierced him through the eye.which is mentioned in Nostradamus poem “He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage“. splinters from the lance had entered the king’s eye, throat, and temple which match “two wounds made one“. Despite the best efforts of royal surgeons after 11 days suffering pain, seizures, and partial paralysis for infection caused by joust, which mentioned in “then he dies a cruel death

After the incident, Nostradamus was invited to read the astrological charts of the royal children by Henry’s wife Catherine de’ Medici. this incident made Nostradamus and his prediction famous worldwide.

The Great Fire of London

Nostradamus prediction about The Great Fire of London :

the Great Fire of London started Sunday, 2 September 1966 when a neglected oven fire in a baker’s shop on Pudding Lane caught wood stack. The fire could have been confined to a small area and can be easily controlled by the fire brigade but the Mayor of London, Sir Thomas Bloodworth refused to give the order to control fire instead he said “a woman might piss it out“, The fire raged for three days till 6 September and destroyed 13,200 houses and 87 parish churches including St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was 75 percent of the city.

Nostradamus prediction about this :

The blood of the just will be demanded of London
Burnt by fire in the year ’66
The ancient Lady will fall from her high place
And many of the same sect will be killed

here “The blood of the just will be demanded of London” match the incident of protestants seeking revenge on the Catholics although only one Catholic death is recorded that time. “the ancient lady will fall from her high place” here it may be referred to London itself. also, we can relate “year ’66” with the incident date September 2, 1666.
